“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:30-31 NIV).
The human body can only withstand so much until it becomes weak. Physical exertion, heat exhaustion, poor nutrition, mental fatigue and other conditions can cause a decline in physical activity and appearance. “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NIV). Amen. Only God can renew our bodies internally and eternally. In our weakness, we are still responsible for taking good care of our bodies in order to accomplish good works. Faith without action is dead. Our bodies are living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God.
Everyone grows old, even young people have moments of tiredness, blindness and loss of balance. The human body was not created to last forever. Our bodies will be returned to the earth. “So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven. As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven. And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man” (1 Corinthians 15:42-49 NIV). God breathed life into Adam and he became living. Jesus Christ became human to bless us with abundant life. He is the way, the truth and the life. No human can come to the Father except through the Son. Whoever believes in him will not perish, but will have eternal life.
God is amazing. “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom” (Isaiah 40:28 NIV). Amen. I just need a tiny bit of God’s wisdom and strength. He is my power in the darkest hours. “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever” (Psalm 28:7-9 NIV). Amen. The LORD is worthy to be praised. My heart is overfilled with love and joy for my God and my Good Shepherd. Put your hope and trust in the Lord God, he will uphold you with his righteous right hand.
