God is Spirit

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in the Spirit and in truth” (John 4:23-24 NIV).

True worship takes place in the form of Spirit and body. “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV). Our bodies are the temples that house the Holy Spirit and allows us to connect with God spiritually. We no longer have to worship in holy places like mountains, tents or stone temples to experience the presence of God. We can experience God through spirituality, a holy connection of our minds and hearts with God’s Spirit. How amazing is that? A deep spiritual connection with the Creator of life as we know it and beyond the scope of what we know or understand.

God’s son, Jesus Christ, paid the price for our sins when he died on the cross. He was born without sin and lived perfectly in the will of God for the entire time he was on earth. We, humans, were born sinful and have committed sins since the beginning of life on earth. Jesus sacrificed his life so that we may glorify our Father in heaven. “But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned” (John 16:7-11 NIV). Amen. Jesus didn’t come to condemn the world, but the prince has been condemned. By the blood of the Lamb of God, we have been healed. We can throw away the sinfulness that kept us in bondage to Satan, the prince of this world. We can now glorify God through righteous living with the Advocate, also know as the Holy Spirit. Thank God for sending Jesus Christ, thank Jesus Christ for sending the Holy Spirit and thank the Holy Spirit for his truth.

Jesus Christ, our Savior, promised to send us a Helper on our path of righteous living. “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you” (John 16:13-15 NIV). The passion of the Christ is real. Jesus lovingly gave his life so we may live forever. He cares for us so much that he sent a Helper to make his truth known. We don’t have to guess about what is to come or inquire of any other human beings. Our bodies are the temples that house the Holy Spirit of truth. Those who believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God will not perish. We will worship with God in Spirit and truth, now and forever.
